Great Food in Essex

The following wines are some of the greatest examples known to man - historic classics from the great regions, or stunning new offerings form winemakers and areas hungry for recognition. All of these wines are, by their nature, in very short supply, and unfortunately we cannot always guarantee their availability. To that end, we must ask for 72 hours notice of your order, along with a 25% deposit.

Chateau Mouton-Rothschild 1996 (Magnum) & Chateau Mouton-Rothschild 1988 Red Bordeaux Pauillac , FRANCE, £220 (1996) / £170 (1988)
A fascinating pair of Moutons - the '88 is all power and depth, a mature vintage drinking beautifully now. The '96 is a relative youngster, but has a lightness of touch and grace that makes it a superlative food wine. We are delighted to offer this wine in magnum for the enjoyment of larger parties

Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 1906 Red Bordeaux Pauillac , FRANCE, £205
’76 was one of the warmest vintages on record and its wines are incredibly long lived – now truly showing their majesty. Lafite has always been a wine for the long haul & this example is at its peak now.

Chateau Latour 1970 Red Bordeaux Pauillac, FRANCE, £270
One of the truly great vintages of the 20th Century, exemplified by one of the truly great wines of the world. Balance is the hallmark of this vintage, with rich fruit and subtle tannins in perfect harmony

Chateau Haut-Brion 1988 Pessac-Léognan , FRANCE, £165
Nestling in the suburbs of the city of Bordeaux, Haut-Brion is a beautifully elegant wine with grace, power, fruit and tannin all in perfect harmony.

Le Pint 1989 Pomerol, FRANCE, £885
Alongside Petrus (which is on our main list), Le Pin is the other legendary wine of Pomerol. Exotic, voluptuous and truly mesmerizing, what is also astonishing is that this wine comes from a tiny 2.1 hectare vineyard where the yields are incredibly low.

Chateau D'Yquem 1989 White Bordeaux(Sauternes), FRANCE, £275
Honeyed, fragrent and piercing, with that classic peach and barley sugar finish, Yquem should be savoured with reverence.

Echezeaux Grand Cru 1996-G & H Jayer Red Burgundy , FRANCE, £495
A uniquely supple and expressive wine from one of the Cote de Nuits most elegant Grand Crus.

Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru1996 -Etienne Sauzet White Burgundy , FRANCE, £235
An intensely powerful and densely flavoured example of Grand Cru Burgundy at its best.

Krug 1985 Champagne, FRANCE, £170
Possibly the richest and most powerful of all champagnes, fermented in oak barrels and incredibly toasty and complex. Truly a remarkable experience.
